Hello there! My name is Chelsey Vonderheide; I will be turning eighteen two days before graduation! I was born and raised here in beautiful Kalispell, Montana. At the age of four, my mom and grandmother decided to curate my schooling in order to provide me with the best education possible. I have been homeschooled ever since, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! A big part of my schooling was spent in the beautiful outdoors. Extracurricular activities, for me, involved hunting and learning about nature and how to live off of the land.
Since I was a little girl, my family has put me into many activities to provide me with a wide variety of social interaction. By the age of fifteen I had participated in karate, gymnastics, art classes, hockey, dance (jazz, hip-hop, tap, and ballet), and much more. I also spent quite some time volunteering at our local food bank.
From the age of ten, I was solely raised by the two most amazing women in my life. After my parents’ divorce, my mom and grandmother became the most important, influential people in my life. They taught me how to grow and become stronger through life’s toughest obstacles. I am forever thankful for their lessons, everlasting love, and support.
In 2011, my mom met my stepdad, Jake. Over the years my stepdad has shown me what a true, loving, supportive dad is. My dad has contributed so much to my life by showing me what real, fatherly, love should be. Without my dad, I wouldn’t be the confident young woman I am today.
Between 2011 and 2019, I attended Connections and Flathead Valley Community College for educational enrichment. At FVCC, I made many lifelong friendships and took large strides in my academic career. My time at the college was spent attaining all of the necessary prerequisites required for a general associate degree. Following graduation I will be completing my degree at FVCC. I intend to utilize my degree at Seattle Pacific University, where I will spend my time studying business.
Away from my academics, I enjoy snowboarding, photography, ballroom dancing, target practicing, hiking, and spending time with my family. In my spare time I have also managed to become a successful small business owner. Over the past year I have begun creating organic, handmade, artisanal soaps! I sell my creations at local farmers markets and online on Etsy. I hope to one day create many more sustainable, waste-free, nature-based businesses.
Upon receiving my diploma, I plan to take a gap year to finish up at FVCC and continue growing my business. I also intend to travel and participate in as many Spartan Obstacle Races as possible. I would like to thank those who have helped me to be where I am today. First off I would like to thank my teacher, also known as my wonderful, loving grandmother, for dedicating herself to my academics and providing me with the best education I could ask for. Momma, I also want to thank you, my best friend, biggest fan, and supporter. Thank you both for raising me to be such a well rounded, confident, smart, young woman. I couldn’t have accomplished all that I have without you. I am so blessed to have you both by my side. I’d also like to thank the rest of my family for always supporting me and pushing me to be the very best version of myself. I love you all and am eternally thankful for such an amazing family.
I am so excited for this next chapter of my life, and I can hardly wait to see what is in store for me. I am so lucky to have such a great team cheering me on along the way!
