Hello! My name is Tim Carlin; I’m 18 years old and a homeschool senior. I have been homeschooled most of my life, and it has allowed me to have experiences I would not have had going to public school. For the last year and a half I have continued my studies through Flathead Valley Community College in the Running Start program.
Homeschooling has helped me to study and learn about topics I find interesting and to travel abroad. During my sophomore year, my family and I moved to Chile to live. While there, we traveled to Argentina, Peru and Mexico. We visited places such as Machu Picchu, the thermal springs in Mendoza, La Isla Dama to see penguins and the catacombs in Lima. Traveling and seeing the places I was reading about was an amazing experience that allowed my education to come alive.
Currently, my family and I live in Polson, MT. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and because my father was in the military, I grew up in Florida, Ohio, and California. We moved to Montana when I was 10 and have lived here ever since.
My hobbies include traveling, martial arts, shooting, surfing, hiking, following politics and hanging out at the lake. Living near Flathead Lake has been amazing and has been a huge part of my summers.
Getting through some of my classes has been difficult, but my friends and family have supported and helped me. I’m excited to graduate and move to the next stage of my life. I plan to serve a mission for my church for the next two years, and hopefully during this time I will find out what I would like to do for a career. I am excited to move on to the next stage of my life and am grateful to all of those who have helped me along the way.
